Kryo's First Pop-Up at Offline Wellness Club's Après Marathon Event: A Memorable Experience

Kryo's First Pop-Up at Offline Wellness Club's Après Marathon Event: A Memorable Experience

The Offline Wellness Club, one of Calgary's newest and fastest-growing run clubs, has quickly become one of the largest in the city. When they reached out to us to feature our Kryo cold plunge tubs at their Après Marathon event, we knew it was a perfect opportunity for collaboration.

Our journey began with an 8-hour drive from Regina, Saskatchewan to Calgary, Alberta. Upon arrival, we headed to House 831, a cozy spot near downtown Calgary, where the event was hosted. This venue offered post-marathon snacks, beverages, a relaxed atmosphere, on-site Myodetox chiropractors and physiotherapists, and, of course, our cold plunges.

Interestingly, this event marked our first-ever pop-up, and we couldn't have been more thrilled to partner with Offline Wellness. Arriving two hours before the event, we faced a steep learning curve in setting up our Kryo Plunge and Kryo 10-person custom event tub considering we were a long ways from home.

Adam and I began by inflating both the Kryo Plunge and the Event Tub. For the larger tub, we needed a significant amount of ice. Adam dashed to the nearest Circle K convenience store and bought out their entire stock of ice (around 400 pounds), costing approximately $300. While Adam was on the ice run, I located the nearest water source and connected a garden hose to start filling the tubs.

Excitement turned to a brief moment of panic when I turned on the tap and nothing happened. I quickly headed to the basement of the venue, following the water lines until I found the cutoff valve to get the water flowing. Additionally, the provided hose appeared weathered from being outside for a while. To ensure the water was clean and clear, we attached an RV water filter to the hose, effectively filtering out any debris.

With the Kryo Plunge filled and the Event Tub ready to go, Adam returned with a truckload of ice. We strategically placed the ice next to the Event Tub for both practical and aesthetic purposes.

As the event kicked off, around 40 brave participants took the plunge. The highlight was undoubtedly the Event Tub, which allowed groups of friends to experience cold water immersion together, making it a hit.

By late afternoon, the event concluded, drawing over 150 attendees. The Après Marathon event hosted by Offline Wellness was a resounding success.

As we began the teardown, we quickly realized that packing up the cold plunges was the most time consuming part. Draining the tubs, scrubbing the interiors, and meticulously packing everything into Adam’s truck was like playing a game of Tetris.

As we were ready to leave, the Offline Wellness crew invited us to their upcoming Recovery Rodeo event during the Calgary Stampede on the weekend of July 6th. Adam is currently setting up the cold plunges for this event as I write this blog post, reminiscing about our fantastic experience at the Après Marathon event.

We’re eagerly looking forward to future collaborations with Offline Wellness and excited to witness the growth of their new Run/Social Club!
