I live in a cold climate for most of the year, what do I do with the chiller over the Winter months? Plus

While The Krýo Plunge chiller can operate in ambient temperatures down to 2°C/36°F, we recommend once ambient temperatures are naturally bringing the temperature of the water in your Krýo Tub down to 10°C to disconnect your chiller and keep it stored indoors for the remainder of the cold months of the year. The plus side of doing so, simply means less wear and tear on your chiller!

How long does the Tub take to fill with water? Plus

Standard water pressure, garden hose, RV water filter: 20-25 minutes.

How cold can you make The Krýo Plunge water? Plus

The Krýo Plunge chiller is capable of cooling the water in the tub down to 1.5°C, making The Krýo Plunge the coldest portable ice bath in the world!

What ambient temperatures can the Krýo Tub operate in? Plus

The Krýo Plunge can operate in ambient temperatures as high as 45°C/113°F and as low as 2°C/35°F. It is not recommended that the chiller operates in conditions below 2°C/35°F as the unit would be at risk of freezing and may cause severe, permanent damage. Our warranty does not cover damage due to use in conditions outside of this operating range.

Can The Krýo Plunge be outside year round? Plus

Yes! The Krýo Plunge can be placed outside. Our chiller is IPX4 certified meaning, it can handle dusty environments and light water sprays. Keep in mind, the unit’s efficiency will decrease if the tub and chiller is placed in direct sunlight and the longevity of all components will increase if they are placed under shelter.

How fast does the Krýo Plunge cool the water? Plus

Our chiller is a 1HP commercial grade chiller. Many competitors offer ½ to ¾ HP chillers which take a long time to chill the water. Our 1HP chiller cools water 4x faster than most other ice baths. The cool down time will depend on the starting water temperature and ambient air temperature. We have found that the Krýo Chiller cools water at a rate of about 5°C per hour. The cool down process can be quickly sped up by adding ice while filling the tub with water.

Why does the Krýo Plunge chiller have Ozone sanitization to treat the water? Plus

We decided to add this sanitization feature in our chiller due to ozone acting as an antimicrobial agent that effectively eliminates bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens present in the water. Infusing ozone into the cold water of the Krýo Tub, the risk of infections and waterborne illnesses is significantly reduced, ensuring a clean and hygienic cold plunge experience. Many competitor chillers will not offer this option and you will notice when using other branded chillers that do not have ozone sanitization, the water inside the tub will become murky and look dirty after just a few cold plunges.

How powerful is the Krýo Plunge chiller compared to other brands? Plus

The Krýo Plunge offers a 1HP commercial grade chiller. Majority of competitors offer a ½ to ¾ HP chiller. Our chillers not only work great for personal, at-home use as they cool the water down at very fast rates but they can also be used in commercial settings.

How much electricity does The Krýo Plunge use? Plus

The amount of electricity the Krýo Plunge uses is dependent on the ambient temperature, the set point of the water temperature, if it is placed in direct sunlight/shade, and local electricity rates. The unit is capable of being programmed via the Bluetooth app to minimize the amount of time it is at the coldest desired temperature which saves significant energy consumption. In general, we expect costs to be less than $1 per day.

How loud is The Krýo Plunge chiller? Plus

When the water is in the desired range, the Krýo Chiller does not need to run and the unit is nearly silent. When cooling the water, the fan on The Krýo Plunge creates about the same amount of noise as a window AC unit, or roughly 60 decibels at 5 feet.

Why The Krýo Plunge over cost effective/DIY options? Plus

Our Chiller cools the water down upwards of 4x faster than most competitors. Our 1HP commercial grade chiller is equipped with state of the art technology, making our product the coldest portable ice bath in the world, capable of chilling water temperature down to 1.5°C. Many competitors do not offer ozone sanitization in their chiller’s due to most competitors offering dual temperature. Ozone sanitization cannot live in warm temperatures, which is why competitors do not include it. The reality of dual temperature chillers is it can take hours upon hours, loads of wear-and-tear and lots of electricity to bring the water temperatures from cold to hot tub temperature and back down to cold temperature. We do realize there are many DIY solutions for as cost effective as $200. This could include used chest freezers, steel troughs, etc. Keep in mind when proceeding with this route, your water will not stay clean and sanitary for long periods of time and will require a water change every few days. Not to mention, to cool the water below standard cold tap water temperatures of ~12°C, it will require you to purchase bags of ice which can cost upwards of $4 per bag. To drop water temperatures to ~7°C., it can take upwards of 8 bags of ice, costing $32 just to chill your tub. Once the ice melts and the DIY tub sits outdoors in an unshaded area, water temperatures will immediately start to drop, meaning you will have to continuously purchase ice.

What is the lead time? Plus

Our lead time is posted on The Krýo Plunge product page underneath the cost of the product.

Shipping
How is the product shipped? Plus

The Krýo Plunge is shipped in two boxes via UPS, FedEx, Canada Post or Purolator Ground right to your door. One box contains the Tub and the second box contains the Chiller. Please note that you must have someone present to sign for the Chiller upon delivery.

How do I safely transport The Krýo Plunge? Plus

It is very important that the Chiller always remains in its normal upright position (handles up). If the Chiller has been on its side or in any other position, it should be left upright for 12 hours before use. We recommend ensuring that all components are dry and drained before putting away for transportation. If shipping The Krýo Plunge, care should be taken to ensure that proper packing is surrounding the chiller to absorb shocks or impacts.

Can I fly with The Krýo Plunge? Plus

You can fly with The Krýo Plunge tub, no problem. However, flying with the Chiller is possible but it is considered an overweight item and can be difficult to protect appropriately. With the proper protective packaging, the chiller exceeds the maximum weight of checked luggage. We recommend the safer, cheaper option of shipping via FedEx, UPS or Purolator if you desire to air travel with it. We also recommend keeping the wooden crate that the Chiller is originally shipped in, even if you don’t plan to fly with the Chiller.

Maintenance
How do you keep the water clean? Plus

Our Chiller has built in 2-step water filtration and non-chlorine/bromine sanitization. The Krýo Plunge has an external strainer to catch any hair or debris from entering the unit, a built in ozone sanitizer and 20 micron filter for extra filtration. The high-flow water pump circulates 100% of the water every 15-25 minutes and ozone sanitization engages every 5 minutes.

Is the maintenance difficult? Plus

Our once per week maintenance protocol takes less than 5 minutes. This allows you to keep the Kryo Plunge running optimally and the water clean and clear. We recommend setting a reminder in your calendar for a day of the week that works well for you to perform the weekly maintenance. You can follow along with ourstep-by-step maintenance protocol video here.

How often do I need to drain and refill the water in the Krýo Tub? Plus

Product Usability

Can the Krýo Tub be used without the chiller? Plus

Absolutely! The Krýo Tub can be used without the Chiller and you can add ice accordingly.

Are epsom salts safe to use in my Krýo Plunge? Can I set up a Krýo Plunge on my balcony? How do I fill and drain it from there?I don’t care for portability, is The Krýo Plunge still a good option for me? Plus

Epsom salts and other additives are not recommended as they are corrosive and would damage the heat exchanger in the Chiller.

Can I set up a Krýo Plunge on my balcony? How do I fill and drain it from there? Plus

Absolutely! Many customers of ours love setting up their Krýo Plunge on their balcony. It is very important to check with your building or your blueprints to verify the load rating. The Krýo Plunge weighs approximately 1100 lbs with the Chiller (~100lbs).
